I was a home schooled teen and i loved it. I mean sure there were times when i got frustrated and wished i could have been with other kids my age.
But my parents were great about the curriculum they chose and the activities that gave me alot of interaction with other people. And I helped set up my schedule and got to help choose what classes i took from what place and took jr college classes and now i am in a private college and i fit in well. I scored high on my entrance exams and passed into 3rd year English among other core classes with a high score in math and science and i am female. So i think that it takes discipline and that homeschooling can be awesome.
I do think that it helped me be more independent and that i have a greater appreciation for education and morals and plan on homeschooling my own children.

I think Home Schooling is really fun I have been home schooled since grade 4 and have loved it I must admit though it has its bad times too! No we are not lazy and I get along with other teens very well. Alot of home schooled are usually alot smarter and you get to work at your own pace and don't get teased by other children as if you were going to a public or private school

There are pros and cons of home schooling. I believe children can get a better education at home. But socialization skills lack, which is a very important part of an education also.
I have known people who have home schooled their children until 7th grade and put them into public school. I feel this was a wise choice because having the same atmosphere can hinder a child in many ways.

I'm a homeschool teen (high-school)....OK, yes I get an excellent education and I love it, but no I'm not sheltered. We do a lot of outside stuff. We're always going places and taking extra classes. I will even start taking community college classes before I graduate high school. I also attend enrichment classes with a lot of kids my age there. Homeschooling is awesome!

Ok. I have been homeschooled. I dont know how EVERY teen feels, but I hated it. Most homeschool parents completely shalter their kids too. Its not so good. Because I know a girl who never heard f*** before she was fifteen. The real world isn't that sheltered. But, maybe not all people are that way.

My son played sports with a kid who was home schooled. Under exposed. Not even close.
He went on a trip to Europe, where he played hockey in several different countries, these days were counted as school days. This exposure motivate him to learn another language, at home on his own.
He played other sports, he played musical instruments. He was not un- socialized. He had many happy kid memories and a good education.

Home schooled teens may gain more knowlegde on certain things not taught at schools specially values but they miss out on the chance to interact with people their age and become prepared for life.

I am homescholed and love it! I went to regular school until 6th grade. It was my choice to be homeschooled i practicly begged my parents to homeschool me! The reason i wanted to be homeschooled was that i was tired of being picked on at school and all the pressue to be like everyone else! But i go to LOTS of other extra curricular groups and stuff! So i meet lots of friends and HAVE social skills!

They possible get a better education, because there is only one of them and they can get the better attention while learning. But missing out on friends, football games, all the junior high/highschool memmories are priceless.

A lot of times they are more intelligent - but not always. They are often much less socialized, unless the parent puts them into extra-curricular programs. A lot of times, homeschoolers stand out a lot once they get to college.

I think they're very lucky they don't have to put up with a lot of ridicule from their classmates. It must be lonely though.

teens who are homeschooled tend to be more dormant and a bit lazy but that is their choice to be lazy and dormant
