a) furthest from the nucleus.



valence electrons are the electrons in the outer shell of the electrons, and electron shells spread away from the nucleus (like water waves when you drop a rock in water, spread away), so they are the furthest from the nucleus.

Valence electrons are the ones involved in coVALENT bonding, so they would need to be on the outermost edge of the atom.



Not sure what option c) is, but d) is obviously wrong, as there are no electrons IN the nucleus.
