I graduated nearly 3 years ago from homeschool, and yes, I was by myself. My mom threw a HUGE party for me. I had to walk down the the aisle of our church with a cap and gown in front of a couple dozen friends and family. People got up and talked about me (very flattering) and then I even gave a "speech" (very nerve-wracking). We had cake and then went out to dinner afterwards. In the back of the room we had laid out photos and binders from unit studies I had done. My 2003 gold and white tassel hangs by my bed.

Oh, and btw, I have adjusted to "real life" just fine. I've taken online college classes through Patrick Henry College (consider this a recommendation) and am now working as a receptionist for a loan company and semi-secretary for an attorney. I'm hoping to attend Bob Jones University in the fall. Sorry! You probably weren't requesting an auto-biography. I just wanted to let you and everyone else know that homeschool grads aren't wierd! :-) Just unique...;-)

Hi.

I think that is completely fine that you are graduating alone

in fact... I wish I was graduating alone.

Graduations are boring.

(I used to be homeschooled 2-5)

Mostly, I just wanted to answer this question

because some jerk up there

said that homeschooling is

weird

and makes people

weird.

THIS IS NOT THE TRUTH!

He also said that they have no social lives.

(I know that you know this,

this is just for everybody who doesn't)

Homeschooled kids do NOT stay in the house

cooped up all day learning. They are busy.

All of the homeschoolers that I know have

great social lives, tons of friends, and yes,

they are really smart. It doesn't take

weirdness to be a homeschooler just

some devoted parents that care.

Congratulations on graduating.Being a homeschooled person does not make you wierd actually homeschoolers are harderworking and more self motivated.

Hopefully your family or friends will throw you a big party to celebrate. If you attend a church that would also be a great place to hold a "graduation ceremony".

Continue the good work into college!

My best friends graduated alone. She went to a Christian school. I on the other hand graduated 23 out of 94, so sorry I was not alone. But the great thing about the graduation ceremony it will be all about you, not only that your the valedictorian and the last person in the class.

I would feel specail I graduated with a class of like 600 people, it took hours. Your's will only take minutes and all the attentioni is yours and yours alone. That's a good feeling to have everyone in the room proud of YOU!! Cherish the moment!

My first roommate in college came from a small town , there were 3 in her class and she was the only one who graduated.

Congratulations on your graduation by the way. have a party or go out with friends. Maybe you could be recognized at your church, a kind of baccalaureate thing? See if your parents can arrange it.

I did American school which is at home correspondence. No one helped me so I taught myself my high school education including French, I am graduating next week one year early from my friends in public school. I will also be graduating alone so congrats.

Enjoy your uniqueness and go out and celebrate with a friend. There's lot of people who are alone in a crowd. Having a friend, any friend is more important than the approval of the masses.

It's cool...no job ever asks..."Did you walk with a huge class at graduation?" They just want to know if you have an education. Congrats, now "gimme my points"!
