Question:
Would this be of interest to homeschoolers?

I am thinking about adding a free email alert service to one of my homeschool related websites.

What I was thinking about was a monthly email that would notify subscribers about:

- Contests open to homeschoolers
- Various deadlines for things like ACT, SAT, PSAT registration and testing dates
- Scholarship opportunities open to homeschoolers

Do you think this would be worthwhile and of interest?

What else should I monitor and provide reports on?

Does this kind of thing already exist? If so, I'll sign up for it and not reinvent the wheel.

I am a member of several Yahoo groups that give information. I usually don't have time to investigate all the opportunities but I would think that you never know when you can pass along information that would be helpful to other homeschoolers. The Yahoo groups would be a way to keep our emails 'safe'...or at least safer than giving our email address on Yahoo!Answers.

Yes. It sounds like a great idea.

I'd definitely sign up for something like that. I'm sure something similar exists, but I honestly can't name anything offhand.

You could also have alerts for changes to homeschool laws in certain states, or maybe keep track of the news feeds and whenever the subject of homeschooling comes up, add a link to the article or something. Maybe also have a homeschooler spotlight where you draw attention to homeschoolers winning awards, competitions, homeschool group sports teams winning tournaments or advancing to the next level of competition, etc. Maybe when you're just starting out have a feedback system so you can get suggestions on how to make it better.

Yes, I would definitely be interested in such a service, either in Yahoo Group form or as a listserv on your server.

One homeschool-related Yahoo Group that I belong to includes the entire state of Ohio and it is so active that I rarely tune into it anymore because it is very hard to locate information when I need it. I would definitely prefer to have targeted information sent directly to me, as long as that was it and nobody else got my email (for spam-prevention).

Good luck!

i'm sorry your place education journey became into undesirable. It sounds as though it wasn't homeschooling that became into undesirable, yet your mum and dad who needed to hide their matters by preserving you at homestead so they could in turn safeguard themselves. actual, the only undesirable journey I ever hear human beings communicate approximately is how their mum and dad have been preserving or did not believe "worldy" human beings. Mine besides, yet in the tip maximum of understand why they have been that way. i think as in case you are going to be able to desire to circulate and consult with a psychologist or somebody who can help you artwork by your matters. The abuse or maybe if you suffered can take place to any baby, regardless of in the event that they have been homestead schooled or circulate to public college. additionally, many mum and dad will tell their little ones are receiving sub-par training in private and public faculties besides. i think of working by you matters, and in keeping with possibility writing your tale could be advantageous to your sake. I merely comprehensive interpreting the "Glass citadel" and that i think memoirs are good. There are undesirable human beings in each and every occupation and accusing being homestead schooled isn't the respond. seem deep interior your self. and seem on the international around you, attempt to help different little ones who confronted comparable reviews. i became into homestead schooled from 1st-10th grade and enjoyed it. i could in no way opt for to take it back. It fostered in me a love of learning, of interpreting, and writing. i needed to be an Egyptologist whilst i became into 15 and tried to earnings to study Arabic. when I went to public severe college i became right into a techniques above my friends, and a greater self sustaining and extreme philosopher. Now i'm a graduate student and hoping to mesh at the same time my love of learning to help public college little ones understand their desires.

There probably are similar things, but a new one wouldn't hurt. I'd be interested, only I am not interested in posting my e-mail address on YA.
